Hi there...just had a proper listen to the cd...i have to say that it has some of the strangest and warped house music i've ever heard.

Börft 100 - (Börft Records/100)
Auf jedenfall Grund zum Feiern. Börft, das Label
mit dem Trekker, hält seine Ausnahmestellung in
Schweden seit Ewigkeiten mit sehr
undergroundigem Lofi Flair und immer wieder
herrausragenden Releases.

Und das kommt auf
diesen 8 Tracks mehr als deutlich raus. Es
beginnt mit einem sensationellen
Ravehouseausnahmehit von Baeka namens "Color" in
dem mitten im plinkernden Pianosound
tiefsitzende angeranzte Vocalsamples vsllig
verhangen und schrSg eine Seele simulieren, und
dann &Mac217;ber Hightechfilter plstzlich der beste
Franzosendubbreakdown erzielt wird, den ich seit
langem gehsrt habe. Hit.

Baeka - the Offbeat ep (Clear Blu)

Baeka - The Offbeat EP (Clear Blu/004)
Housetracks unbedingt besorgen sollte.

3 kickend rappelige, aber auch stellenweise weit ins
hymnisch Schsne driftende Housetracks mit sehr
viel Witz, Ravepiano und einer überbordenden
Euphorie, wie man sie nur selten findet. Egal ob
kein Mensch Baeka kennt. Ein Fehler.

Deeplay Music is proud to present the first release in our new series...DEEPLAY VAULTS. The idea behind the new series is to present to our fans an evolving project that will showcase four different artists...each exhibiting their own unique musical vision.

From the vault comes:
Baeka, the lo-fi master of Scandinavia. With influences ranging from Nick Holder to Theo Parrish, the "Soul Exp" highlights these influences, but in Baeka's own musical space. Big support from Ian Pooley.

DJ SUPPORT
Laurent Garnier - Love the ‘A1’ track. Will support and play everywhere
Tutto Matto - A1’ is wonderfull in terms of ‘breaks’ and we love it
Greg Fenton - Excellent. Love all the tracks here

Swedish purveyors of the most soul-touching and satisfying deeper grooves, Deeplay have some incredibly talented producers on their books. This release brings together some of their star artists on one slice of vinyl. Baeka's "Soul Exp" sees high spirited keys, smiling strings and inquisitive vocals combine on a lively journey. Jon Freer (Blues & Soul)

2:a släppet på svenska Brother P Records!

Beat & Desire (Morris Audio City Sport Edition / 014)

Beat & Desire
Baeka: Beat & Desire (Morris Audio Citysport Edition) - EP
Deep, speaker rumbling basslines cushion beautiful jazz and rhythm'n blues motifs. Opener 'Caress the sun' tacks deep south samples down to the timeline to make for a hypnotic and satisfying listen. 'The mountain' goes one step further and features some nifty piano lines. 'Mom's house' errs towards fully fledged vocal-led house, the highly stylised vocals are appealing and emotive.

Baeka/ "As We Dream":
What?!?! Has revered techno label Bush gone all soft and mushy on us? One spin of Baeka’s "As We Dream," will definitely lead us all to think that. The Teutonic label that usually releases driving, nose-bleed techno that’s funky as hell, regale us with a surprisingly gorgeous, ethereal vocal. For a label known for putting out quality 12", the label does not disappoint and is true to form, even on this deep vocal. This record really is worth buying because it’s not merely good, it’s wonderful and heartfelt. Yes, even us techno heads get gooey and romantic, too.

BAEKA: AS WE DREAM (BUSH)
Baeka are one of Sweden's finest house acts and have had previous releases on the Yellhouse and Morris Audio Citysport imprints. "As We Dream" is adeep jazzy psychedelic house joint with a fat dubby bassline, cool keys, wicked flute line and a trippy vocal hook.

Fat dub on the flip, both mixes
have an old school deep Chi-town sound.

BUSH 2044 / "AS WE DREAM" / BAEKA

I'm a deep house lover and I never heard anything like this before, Baeka is unique, you can hear the music right but most important, you can feel it, I never seen a song such as "as we dream" giving such an impact on my mind, it's addictive, it's a beauty and there's nothing like it. One that came close however not as much is Franck Roger, I tell the DJ which has the same type of feel except no vocals. Hope Baeka will drop by Montreal Canada one day!

BAEKA - MORE TROUBLE
Morris Audio and it’s offshoot Citysport Edition, both based in Switzerland, have quickly established a reputation for presenting some of the best new tech-house productions that fizz with originality and new ideas. Surprisingly then with ‘More Trouble’, Baeka creates a distinctly old school track with a warm bass line, soft claps and a vintage piano riff supported by a free style sax. The traditional male vocal adds yet more nostalgia and clever additional percussion adds an interesting element to the overall deep feel.

The remix duties have been handed to the Finnish producer Jussi-Pekka who has been going down quite well with the likes of David Duriez and Phil Weeks thanks to his acidic compositions and remixes on labels such as Frozen North, F-Comm and Shallow Cutz and it is more than likely that this remix of ‘More Trouble’ will increase his profile ever further. Toughening up the beats, Jussi-Pekka uses the original piano and runs it alongside a bubbling acid sequence. Intelligent snippets of the vocal sample are programmed in to add more clarity to the overall arrangement but it soon becomes clear that the 303 is the main feature. The first breakdown sees the acidic elements over-power the consistent piano riff before the drums kick back in. The producer resists the temptation to over use the 303 sounds and re-introduces the classic piano with notable success. The final breakdown combines both the acid and old school elements and takes them to new heights, ensuring that the dancefloor is well supplied.

An extremely well made and modern interpretation of a classic house formula.

SOUL EXP

So what do we have here?

Well, itís a very special release we present with one of the most mysterious and hidden man out of Sweden.

People have said he ís Sweden's equivalent to Detroitís finest Moodymann.

Lo-fi House with lots of Soul. Baeka is his name and he has an output which could be compared to how quick politicians act to the global warming.

With that said, weíre very happy to have him on board and Soul Exp. is a future classic.

Soul Exp. was actually released back in 2004 on the Deeplay Vaults EP and it was a huge success back then with support from a broad range of people. Everyone loved the melodic piano matching the uplifting vocals together with the rhythmic and effective cowbells.

Now it got a Re-Rub and the result would best be described as a mish-mash of seventies disco with some old-skool House feeling blended in with a slice of the vibe of Kerri Chandlerís-Bar A Thym and a topping of Moodymann.

Following the new 2008 original, there are four other mixes made by Baeka himself. He strip it down with the Elektro Version. The Reason Version is a more laidback smooth affair. Soul Expedition Lounge is exactly as it sounds. And we also have the instrumental for you non-vocals-fashionistas out there. And Norwegian finest Dalminjo (Papa Records) delivers a stunning deep effective mix with a killer bassline. Check it out.

ìI want to know where Iím going, I want to know see the future now......................î Can it get any better than this????

SOUL EXP

We canít get enough of Beaka's Soul Exp, so here it is, an another remix package.

It gets treatment from one of the finest in Sweden, Tomas Andersson, the Bpitch guy with his massive Washing Up release. With the two different mixes he shows exceptional skills of making interesting versions of the original track. The Visselpipa Remix is a stripped down affair with funny changes all throughout with an effective whistle sound all together with some old-skool computer game sounds in the end. Funny indeed ?

His Other Remix is more of a twisted acid groover that will get stuck in your brain, for good or worse!!

Label boss Martin Brodin couldnít keep his fingers away from making some mixes himself. The result is simply two proper deep-house versions that build up a nice funky feel with a killer break. A typical builder as we say at the Deeplay Mansion.

And as a bonus we have to give you all the opportunity not to miss Baekaís own Gameboy version. As you understand, this sounds exactly like an odd Gameboy game. It can't get weirder than this.

SOUL EXP

There's a story behind this tune!

I used to go to the same high school as John Dahlbäck. Top bloke, he gave me a couple of promo 12s once. Among them there was this compilation EP on Deeplay called Deeplay Vaults Volume 1.

A1 on that comp might be one the most played tracks ever in my house. The comp also features the beautiful John Dahlbäck track Wonder. And an excellent breaky groove by Physics.

Anyway, hereís Baeka - Soul Exp., for your sunday listening pleasure;

From the blog Yeah Wo Ho!

Baeka - Soul Exp.

Deeplay Music

Killer deep vibes from Malm&Mac246;. Since 1998, Baeka unleashes his psychedelic house music to the souls of deep house lovers.

Martin Brodin's highly acclaimed musical imprint Deeplay, as well as Deeplay Soultec, Audiobahn and Just For Fun go partially on their paths with such strong and direct releases. Baeka's "Soul Exp." is one of the best and most delicious EPs in the Deeplay Music discography. There are plenty of treated versions, in which you can even find an 'Elektro' version and long time Deeplayer Norwegian Dalminjo's 'Techillah' mix.

All surrounded by the real groove and uplifting happiness of Beaka, turned out to be dance floor burner. Melodically strong, beat wise smart production progress the EP to a very high level where concludingly we happen to say that this EP is problably the best package in the Deeplay discography.

Espcially the 'Reason' version and '2008 Revisited' are unbelievably tasty.

Baeka is said to be the Swedenís equivalent to Detroitís Moodymann. Listen and you decide yourself, Lo-fi deep house at it's best!

Baeka - Right at it

Rekids
